Initial diagnostics

Your first visit and initial diagnostics

During your first visit you will undergo a kinesiological assessment – the basic examination performed by every physiotherapist. The aim of the initial examination is to gather as much information about your current health as possible.

The diagnostics will give you answers about your health, how your body works and the causes of pain and musculoskeletal problems that may be troubling you:

  • back pain
  • limb pain
  • a weak core
  • pain in the feet, knees and lower back
  • slow digestion
  • difficulty losing weight and toning up
  • and many others
Your first visit and initial diagnostics

The diagnostics are an essential part of your first visit and a prerequisite for providing further services. You can undergo the diagnostics without continuing with therapy, but we definitely recommend applying therapy afterwards and arranging follow-up sessions guided by your physiotherapist.

How do the initial diagnostics work?

First you will go through an initial interview – your medical history, where I will ask you various questions focused on:

  • your current musculoskeletal problems,
  • past problems – fractures, injuries, recurring issues,
  • work load – whether your job is manual or sedentary and in what position you work,
  • sport and other physical activities.

We then move on to the examination itself. It includes assessment by observation, palpation, and measuring circumferences or the range of motion of the spine and joints. I also assess basic movement patterns, coordination during movement and muscle imbalances. This is followed by specialised examinations for individual diagnoses and difficulties.

What do the initial diagnostics include?

Your first visit with diagnostics includes:

  • an initial interview and a comprehensive medical and sports history
  • diagnostics of your whole posture in movement, standing, sitting and lying down
  • applying methods to release stiff muscles, spasms…
  • relief from pain and musculoskeletal problems currently troubling you
  • evaluation of the findings and answers to your questions
  • an overall summary of the diagnostics and physiotherapy
  • a proposal for the next steps, or a follow-up session
